The line on this map estimates the route and shows the main towns that it travels through. The line is not perfect in part because my cartography skills are not the best, but also because often the route is invented along the way by those who walk because indications are scarce as to where the Via Francigena is. The Southern Via Francigena has no signage at all. The blue line is the Via Francigena in Italy and the orange line is the Southern Via Francigena.
